Academy

Aim higher – Dream bigger

The Academy aims to transform the lives of young, talented dancers who would not otherwise have the opportunity by offering free places on a three-year course. Students join the Academy at the age of 15 or 16 and train to develop their technique in ballet and allied dance genres, broadening their experience and allowing them to pursue their dreams.

From Cuba to the World

The Academy is located in the central Vedado neighbourhood of Havana, close to many of the city’s main theatres and cultural venues. It shares a building with Carlos’ dance company (Acosta Danza), occupying a newly renovated separate space that comprises a dance studio, classrooms, and ancillary areas.

The link with Acosta Danza

The Academy and its students enjoy a close relationship with Acosta Danza, Carlos’ dance company which is based on the same site. The professional dancers inspire and guide the students, offering them training opportunities and the chance to perform in joint artistic activities. The students also meet and interact with artists and teachers of international renown who visit and hold master classes for Acosta Danza.

Upon graduation, the most talented students can aspire to join the company itself or explore other professional opportunities within the global dance community.

Consider supporting the Acosta Danza Academy

To provide these young people with the opportunity of attending the Academy, we seek support from individuals and organisations passionate about enabling these gifted young people to develop their talent and pursue their dreams. Will you join us?

All of our students rely on financial support to attend the Academy. Ongoing philanthropic support is fundamental to the success of the Academy and this has been particularly highlighted during the current outbreak of Covid-19 to be able to continue to support and teach our students.

Your donation will support the Acosta Danza Academy Scholarship Program: The Academy in Havana admits approximately 24 young people each year following a vigorous selection process. We are aiming to raise funding by way of scholarships to support the full cost of training and development of students. We welcome your contribution towards the Scholarship Program (as a full or part scholarships) with full credit being provided to the donors for student development.
