Choreographic Fellowship Showcase: Exploring the Power of Words in Motion

Choreographic Fellowship Showcase: Exploring the Power of Words in Motion

On March 26, we had the pleasure of hosting a spectacular sharing session with our third Carlos Acosta Choreographic Fellow, Edit Domoszlai. Her thought-provoking piece explored the intricate relationship between text, meaning, and movement.

“In recent years, I’ve really wanted to find more creative opportunities and transition from my career as a dancer to becoming a choreographer. When this fellowship came up, I thought it was just incredible. It’s quite rare that organisations offer such opportunities for emerging choreographers to engage with professional environments and dancers—especially within an international setting,” shared Edit.

Edit’s choreographic piece featured the influence of language—ranging from poetic lines to interpreted phrases—and the evolving relationship between source material and interpretation. Through this dialogue, she explored how words shape movement and how, in turn, movement can reframe language. The result was a beautifully layered piece that questioned identity, expression, and the internal narratives we carry.

Our phenomenal students from the Acosta Advanced Training Hub, alongside the exceptionally talented Acosta Danza Yunior dancers Alex Arias and Paul Brando, brought Edit’s vision to life with passion, precision, and deep emotional resonance. Their dedication and artistry received heartfelt praise, with the showcase leaving the audience both inspired and moved.

As the 2024 Choreographic Fellowship concludes, we’re excited to share that we have already received applications for the 2025 Carlos Acosta Choreographic Fellowship and are now looking forward to introducing the next bold and inspiring choreographic voices to you. This unique programme supports early-career choreographers through funding, mentorship, and international collaboration with Acosta Danza.
